Our Process

At SM2, our clients are presented with a step by step process to ensure the successful implementation and realisation of their web strategy. This process includes a professional, easy to read and thorough project brief as well as a dynamic visual presentation of the web strategy in action.

The project brief includes 5 phases:

Phase 1- Initiation/Consultation

Initially we would meet to identify your business needs and goals. This commencement stage enables members of your company and SM2 key personnel to meet to discuss issues, identify required resources and scoping of requirements.

Your thoughts, ideas and goals for the business; Vision Statement - what you are trying to achieve, why you exist, what will your business look like when it has realised its vision, who your customers are, what they like about your business and how clients will do business with you. We identify and discuss your ideas, needs and business requirements. We would review your current/existing systems. The scoping stage would also provide more accurate estimate of costs, timelines and specifications.

Phase 2 – Analysis and solutions

SM2 provide you with a brief that details our suggested solutions, which can be deployed in phases. This gives you the ability to build your web strategy progressively. It also includes costing. Once you have signed off on the brief, a project document is created and work commences. Our brief includes an analysis of your needs discussed in phase 1, suggested solutions and options, scope of work and fees and timeframes. Upon your sign off of the brief, we produce a project plan and move into the development phase.The project plan provides details of the required outcomes, resources and actions to design, develop, release and market your solution.

Phase 3 - Development

This phase is the production of all creative elements ie page layouts, forms, navigation elements etc and core programming of all components. It includes system testing and stress testing performed by the project team prior to final user acceptance testing. A series of alpha and beta testing in the development and pre-production environments is conducted in preparation of the site release.

Phase 4 - Deployment

This phase is where the usability-tested application is installed on live site for your acceptance testing then release to public. Base source files used in the creation of the design are transferred to your file systems.

Phase 5 - Training and Support

This is the concluding phase where training of your administrators and selected users is undertaken and support and maintenance contracts are activated. A final project debrief would conclude the project.
