SM2 has recently undertaken a large upgrade to all SM2 hosted Mambo and Joomla! sites to the latest release patches available on your site. The upgrade to all sites has been undertaken under a staged approach starting last Monday and expected completion this week. The upgrade to your SM2 hosted site ensures your site has the latest available code. SM2 follows advice from the Joomla! Organisation to update to the latest version, especially if a patch has security fixes in it. A patch in Joomla! is a group of bugfixes that may include security issues. A patch is a minor upgrade. From Joomla! 1.0.0 to Joomla! 1.0.7 is considered a patch. Going from Joomla! 1.0,x to Joomla! 1.1 (which will be released later this year) will be a major upgrade and should be treated differently. It is not part of the SM2 general annual maintenance package that many clients have purchased. |
