While the business objectives for the site have not changed very much, there was a definite desire within the SM2 camp to use some of new approaches in design and to generally increase the usability of the website. Part of the solution was creating a “lighter” feel, by using predominantly white with the signature, corporate SM2 colours. The default width of pages is now much wider and is exaggerated by the use of horizontally opposed elements. These two changes draw focus towards the content and the navigation. A large flash animation slowly scrolls through some of our latest work, which acts as an eye-grabber; increasing the visual interest of the home page, without distracting from the other elements. The SM2 website is well focused on providing necessary information about our company and the services we provide. By using semi-transparent navigation and some eye-catching header images, we have increased the focus on content, yet still increased the visual appeal of the site. The end result of our hard work is a website that represents our company; Providing a clear path for visitors to our message and the information that they seek.
