Introduction
SM2 was approached by another Brisbane based creative, technical and design firm for print and web, who required technical assistance on a current website project. SM2 offered
consultation and development work on a static HTML website the firm had developed for their existing client, Metallica Minerals.
Metallica was established with the primary objective of creating
opportunity and wealth for its shareholders through the evaluation and
development of mineral projects in Queensland. Metallica was listed on
the Australian Stock Exchange November 2004 (ASX Code MLM). Metallica's
focus and flagship project is its North Queensland Nickel Cobalt
(NORNICO).
Solution
The HTML site was already designed and developed by the firm. Metallica Minerals required their stock market prices to appear on
their web site in real time. SM2 assisted the firm achieve this by
offering their development and coding expertise by amending the
supplied website code to incorporate the XML data feed to display the
live feed.
Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a general-purpose coding language. The use of XML on a site facilitates the sharing of structured data across
different information systems, particularly via the Internet. SM2 has extensive knowledge of XML as it is recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium and is a fee-free open standard which conforms to SM2's ideals of giving back to the Open Source community.
SM2 seamlessly integrated their coding solution into the supplied
code and assisted the firm in developing a successful site for the firm
and resulted in an ongoing relationship with the firm as a technical
consultant.
