Be Constructive Women's Week Site
Women in Construction Week

Construction Skills Queensland in partnership with the Office for Women has launched the Women in Construction Week. SM2 was involved by designing and building the Be Constructive Women's Week Mini Web Site.

Construction Skills Queensland and the Office For Women are dedicated to the development and involvement of women in the building and construction industry especially through the launch of the Women in Construction Week to be held on 10th - 14th March 2008.

This year's "Women in Construction Week" will include the opportunity for females to participate in Try'a Trade activities providing a hands-on approach - having a go at various trades. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk to recognised leaders in the industry, such as tradespeople, apprentices, teachers and local business people.

"Construction Skills Queensland understands the need for highly skilled workers and through programs such as Women in Construction Week we hope to secure the interest of students who are in the process of deciding which career path they will pursue."

SM2 was employed to create a mini website that would work in collaboration with the extensive offline print marketing for the Week.

SM2 also created banners ads for use on the Construction Skills Queensland and Be Constructive web sites to help promote the event. The Women's Week mini site was also promoted via multiple email campaigns including eNewsletters highlighting women in construction, positions available in the construction industry, courses specifically aimed at women, other supporting events such as launch of the Work Experience Program for Women in Plumbing and the several themed invites to specific groups such as schools, partners and the industry.

SM2 also integrated the site with Google Analytics to ensure strong data was collected for the mini site. The site received growing traffic up to the week with the strongest visits reported after the email blasts. Over 55% per5cent of visitors found the site via the direct link www.beconstructive.com.au/women and other searching for "women in construction". A very healthy average of over 3 minutes was spent by each visitor on the site.

The project was given a very strict and tight timeline and SM2 turned the project around from inception, design, build, test to launch within a week.

"With more opportunities than ever before, excellent prospects and a chance to be a part of Australia's booming construction industry, there has never been a better time for women to join the industry."
