| Girls keep the blogosphere turning |

Young women are much more likely to blog or contribute other content to the web than their male counterparts, according to a survey by the Internet & American Life Project reported by the New York Times. The study found 35% of teenage girls who use the web have contributed to a blog, compared to just 20% of boys who are online. Girls are more likely to create or work on their own web pages, with 32% of girls running their own site compared to 22% of boys, Online social networks are also more to the taste of teenage girls than boys – 70% of girls have a profile on an online social network such as Facebook or MySpace, compared to 57% of boys.
