Shane Beikoff Racing will return again to the Mountain in 2008, to contest Round 6 of the 2008 Fujitsu V8Supercar Series at Mount Panorama, Bathurst this weekend. Shane Beikoff Racing team owner Shane Beikoff will have the driving duties in the #68 Turbo Brisbane AU Falcon at Bathurst, after previously contesting the Wakefield Park Round in April. Despite the fact he has been out of the V8Supercar seat for almost 6 months, Shane has kept up his personal fitness regime, and has prepared himself mentally as best as possible in his time outside the drivers’ seat. “It will take me a couple of laps in practice to get acclimatised again to how to race the car, but it’s like riding a bike – you learn how to do it all again very quickly.” Shane has raced in two Bathurst 1000 races, in 1998 and 2000, finishing 19th on both occasions. Shane has also competed in the Fujitsu Series races atBathurst in 2003, 2004 and in 2005. Shane continued.Starting in his 24th V8Supercar Round, Shane has been gathering as much information on Bathurst as possible from his son Jonathan over the last few weeks. With Jonathan Beikoff behind the wheel at Bathurst in 2007, Jonathan steered the #68 Turbo Brisbane AU Falcon to 15th and 16th positions in the two 14-lap races, including covering a lap time in qualifying which was over two seconds faster than the team has ever completed.
"You need to be smooth in your driving while not being too slow - Bathurst has a very unique mix of corners, and if you have the car performing right, and you're on the top of your driving technique, it's a very rewarding race track." Although Jono is not racing this year at Bathurst, Jono will be assisting his father, Shane Beikoff on how to get the most from the car at Bathurst.
Shane Beikoff will be driving the #68 Turbo Brisbane AU Falcon at Mt
Panorama, Bathurst, starting with practice on Thursday, 9 October,
qualifying on Friday 10 October with Race 1 telecast on Friday
afternoon, and Race 2 shown live on Network Seven on Saturday, 10
October at 1.40pm. For more information, contact:
