SM2 Special Publish Joomla! Plugin

SM2 Special Publish Joomla! PluginDo you need to let management or other stakeholders review areas on your site before you make it published for public view without the hassle of making them log in and see registered or unpublished content? So did our one of our Joomla! 1.0 clients. To help them with their approval and review process, SM2 created the "SM2 Special Publish Joomla! Plugin" for use in Joomla! 1.0 managed web sites.

Using the custom SM2 developed code, the site administrators are able to make articles, sections or categories hidden from the default Joomla! site search. This is useful if you have content that is available for internal review and not ready for the public eyes yet.

SM2 Special Publish plugin allows selected content to be viewable on the front of the web site despite being unpublished.

Ideally this plugin can be used in situations where you need multiple people to preview and provide feedback on some content displayed in the live context with out public access. This plugin works great in conjunction with the "Hide From Search" Custom Joomla! Development.

Rather than providing logins for multiple users to preview registered or special access areas, you can set the Section, Category or Article as unpublished and provide a link to it. Such as you may want your PR agency, the CEO or the board to view the content without the hassle of getting these reviewers to have to log in. It's makes the review process much faster and easier if your content has to go through several levels or departments.

The plugin will make the relevant Section, Category or Article publish while the request is being processed and then immediately make it unpublished again. If the link provided already exists on the web site either in other Articles, or as a Menu item, then this plugin will make it visible to whomever clicks that link, so it is best used when the desired Section, Category or Articles are not linked from inside the web site yet.

Note: this plugin requires a minor modification to add 2 new trigger points into the Joomla! index.php file so that it can be run.
